We specialise in caring for people with dementia and associated mental health needs, but we will always look beyond the illness to find the person beneath.
Enormous effort has gone into developing a positive environment to support all our residents. The home is arranged to provide areas where residents can relax, be private in their own space, or join in with social events; benefiting from the company of others – Everything we do is aimed at achieving well-being and contentment for people living with dementia.
All our staff are trained to bring out the best in people’ to work to achieve positive steps forward and do everything we can to slow the progression of this particularly distressing disease.
We achieve this through a stimulating programme of activity and social interaction – either in small therapeutic groups or one to one quality time. Each person is equally important to us in helping them to find happiness and a sense of value..
Food and meal times are an important aspect of our care programme, ensuring people receive good nutrition and feel their dining experience is an enjoyable and social occasion. We promote independence and choice in everything we offer, but especially in our food service.
Residents select their own meals, where they sit and who they dine with. We use themed menus, table displays and snack platters to stimulate interest and create an atmosphere conducive for reminiscence. Families and friends are welcome to join us for a meal, although some notice is appreciated.
Friends and family play a crucial role in helping to achieve well-being. Pleasurable responses and memories are frequently apparent, even when the person is unable to verbalise. We continually look for positive reinforcements and help families to understand and value the time they spend with their loved one.
