June in Bloom

Throughout May our homes have been involved in a gardening project, working to create grand displays at the front entrance and inside.  Residents, visitors and staff all got their hands muddy to create show stopping centerpieces to be proud of. We’re  overwhelmed with the creativity shown and community spirit created throughout this project.

Winner of the June in Bloom competition – Ferndene

Congratulations, the prize of £500 will be given to Ferndene to spend on their gardens.

Ferndene staff really moved mountains  in the last 4 weeks from a garden that was non existent to create lovely areas to sit, a vegetable garden, and planted sensory plants. An area was also created for activities where residents could pot their own plants.

The whole atmosphere has been enhanced by using the entrance of the home  to create a warm and welcoming feeling  for residents and visitors  with the chosen theme of ‘Picnic in the Park’ – it is such an interaction point as soon as you walk into the home  with residents’ engagement with staff and visitors.
